Who Am I??

After looking at some other blogs being developed by the CDLC under the tutelage of Polly Farrington, I realize I should post "something about me."  I'm the School Library System Director for Capital Region BOCES.  I just started in October and it's been a wild ride so far!  I love what I do ... even in these difficult economic times.  I live in Queensbury so have a wee bit of a commute but it gives me some good thinking time ... or not, on some days!  I'm originally from Kansas and have a difficult time pronouncing "inquiry" like a nor'easter ... a problem because I have to say that word a lot!  I spent 22 years teaching high school (15 as a Librarian, 7 in Social Studies).  I still haven't gotten my paperwork together to file for taxes ... looming deadlines:  stress or adrenaline rush?  And I'm getting married in June to a wonderful man - backyard barbeque and Harley honeymoon.  If you want to know more ... you'll have to ask in "comments."

  1. So nice to learn something more about you! And to know you are a midwesterner too. I'm originally from Illinois. We lived near Boston for five years and have been here since 1979. That makes me feel old!

  2. Hey there, your blog is great! Love the colors and design of your blog - so ARTSY! I knew there was a good reason (or 2) that we hired you! Holler if you need geeky support :)

  3. Now I'm curious which pronunciation of 'inquiry' they use up here! I'm originally from Indiana, and I'm not sure I've heard anyone up here say it before.

  4. Here the accented syllable is the first - IN; Kansas the accented syllable is the second - QUIR. Plus in Kansas the second I is a long I sound - here it is more an "uh" sound. Hard to describe in writing!?

  5. WOW! J'aime-you certainly have your plate full, but it's always refreshing to find others in assorted positions all coming together for a common cause (loved your comment about being "old geezers"-LOL -w/apologies to those who aren't)..and it seems to be such a circle of constantly "re-bumping" into those you have met through some venue or other, and then again...I hope we get to meet in person sometime (I'm the librarian w/RCS cut-the one who agreed to vote you "queen of the world":)
PS_ Hope you have a beautiful day for the upcoming event!!
