Although I'm still trying to find the "right" template/design for this blog (this is my second attempt!), I'm having fun with it. Today I commented on several blogs of Cap Region School Librarians - and "subscribed" to them so I can keep up with postings. I LOVE the RSS/subscription feature as a way to keep up with things I want to see without having to remember to go there all the time. I'm using Google Reader because I want to keep everything in "one" place (google). I already have an i-google place that may need a bit of updating, and have used Google docs to some degree. I need to learn more. My problem was trying to decide to use my personal or work e-mail address to set things up. Too many passwords to remember!! And ... how do I get off Pacific time, and on the Eastern time???
I also e-mailed my older brother about setting up a blog of our memories of growing up in our small town of Garden City, KS. And guess what - he already had one set up from 3 years ago! So far he had only posted 2 items on, so we're going to get it going again - and send the address to family so they can add some of their thoughts as well.
This blogging thing may really work for me!
That's pretty cool that you got your brother to jump start the family blog again!
ReplyDeleteHe has a very creative side - photography, screenwriting, etc. He's also very interested in our family history/genealogy - has collected a lot about our great-great-grandfather who died in Andersonville Prison Camp during the Civil War. Of course, I could be more creative if I didn't have a j-o-b that cuts into my "thinking" time - ha!
ReplyDeleteI liked your idea of using the blog to stay in touch with far-flung family....very neat! My youngest daughter was actually quite impressed when I told her I created my own blog for this course! Hard to believe mom has actually launched herself into the 21st century! (she's probably just hoping it will keep me off facebook...;D )
